Whippet in Alaska

The snow has melted and we are doing what we do best: chase tennis balls in baseball fields:

We are also running. Curtis holds Tyler's leash and Sarah and Blake bike [Blake is in his bike trailer...to young to bike ;)]:

Tyler has this to say: "Oh yeah, we are getting more and more bewildered by the baby... he is rolling toward me and touching me... Very frustrating to take a nap when the baby wants to explore my ears."
We continue to have dog aggression/fear aggression with Tyler... Just not sure what to do. We are considering a prong collar...

For those of you out there that are patiently awaiting more pictures of Blake I will give you a few more to tide you over. We will upload the bulk of what we have on Sunday to Flickr, but until then here you go...

For a short time Tyler's blog is going to be taken over by the new addition to the family, our new baby boy Blake. Sarah and I are working on setting up a Flickr account where all of Blake's pictures will go but until that time Tyler will just have to share his space (something he will have to get use to in our home as well). So here you go...

Vital Statistics-

Name: Blake Auden James Seelen
Birtdate: 8/22/07
Birthplace: Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Fairbanks, AK
Time of Birth: 11:09 pm by C-Section

After a dramatic and fast paced labor little Blake got wedged in Mommies' cervix and would not budge. This along with a few other factors prompted Sarah's doctors to recommend a Cesarean section. Here's a picture of Blake's first few minutes outside his former cozy home.

Once he was out they cleaned him up and gave him his shots. He needed to be resuscitated at first because he was pinching his umbilical cord (which is what prompted the C-section), but once he was good to go we gave him to his happy mother.

Once little Blake was out, Mommy had to go recover for a little while so Daddy went with him to the nursery where he got his first bath.

After his bath we were able to reunite him with his mom where he had his first meal and we took our first family picture.

In another edition of "I couldn't possibly stage this: . . " Here is Tyler in his sweater (it was a cool 50 F day here in Fairbanks this past weekend) and a toy that, apparently, doubles as a pillow.

In light of all the baby stuff coming to live in this house with Tyler and his interest in it, we thought it was only fitting to see how it looks on him.

Summer is almost over... and we haven't posted any frisbee or tennis ball shots yet...

Tyler successfully passed obedience school last week after 8 long sessions with some very scary puppies (I am being sarcastic). He seems to think that puppies playing is a big no-no and everyone should sit quietly whining while the humans are talking...

A classic question that continues to come to mind when watching Tyler sleep is: How is this comfortable?I promise there was no posing with the ducky over the face... That was all Tyler. It seems that it just isn't nap time without the face being covered.

He has made a new friend, the yarn shop owner has gotten a new greyhound and they have become fast friends.
